David Cone's Last Year In Pinstripes?

According to the Daily News, David Cone may be filing for free agency next week. This may give the Mets, the Yankees cross-town rivals a chance to swoop down and sign Cone as their pitcher for next season. Cone says he wants to see what else is out there. He plans on seeing what the Mets, Indians, Red Sox and Orioles will bear. The Mets are looking to sign Cone, who was once their former pitcher who can be the Mets front-line starter and can play in big games.

Over three million people attended the Yankees Ticker Tape Parade in The Canyon of Heroes. Indeed it was a heroes welcome. The streets were littered with papers. Everything from rolls of toilet paper to their old telephone bills. Each player, coach, Joe Torre and every owner or partner was given a key to New York City presented by Mayor Guiliani yesterday at City Hall Park. Several players were given the opportunity to say something to the city of New York. Such speakers were Derek Jeter, Tino Martinez, Joe Girardi, Scott Brosius, Darryl Strawberry, Bernie Williams, Roger Clemens, David Cone, Andy Pettitte, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez and Chuck Knoblauch. Most of the speakers thanked fans, the Yankees organization and the players. Orlando Hernanez (El Duque) spoke in spanish and he thanked New York City, his co-workers and of course Joe Torre. All except Chuck Knoblauch, said something sentimental. Chuck Knoblauch said to George Steinbrenner, "I want a platnium ring, George. That's all I want. Platnium. I have three things, three words to say. How Ya Doing?"

12.24.99 |Sorry for the lack of updates. :( Well here's a lot!
Our dear Joe Girardi, being a free agent has signed with his hometown of the Chicago Cubs. He already had a house set up there, and was all ready to go.
Relief left fielder, Chad Curtis has been traded to the Houston Astros for minor league pitches yet to be announced. It was rumored that an arguement between All-Star Shortstop Derek Jeter and Curtis had made the trade rise, but this is false.
Right handed Pitcher Japanese Pitcher, Hideki Irabu, who came to the United States wanting to play for the Yankees has been traded to the Montreal Expos for more minor league pitching prospects. Irabu showed up for spring training this past year, overweight and to say the least fat.
Back up first basemen and catcher, Jim Leyritz has been resigned. Most likely he would be backup catcher and probably the DH. Leyritz's record with the Yankees are to say the least, impressive since Leyritz returned to the Yankees in July after 1996 when a major hit in the World Series, gained Leyritz the title, 'The King'.
